You can see a Buddhist temple at Jaldhaka in Nilphamari district. It is believed that the temple was built during the reign of 'Dharmapala' of Pal period. King Dharmapala was the second ruler of the Bengal region of the Indian subcontinent. His reign was approximately 781 - 821 AD. King Dharmapal also set up a capital at Nilphamari. The place is Dharmapal Union. This capital of King Dharmapalay was surrounded by a high wall built by the soil. Which was later known as King Dharmapala fort. An old Buddhist temple has been discovered here.
